Delamination Strength Testing

Delamination testing can be considered a sub-type of testing within the broader category of adhesion testing. One of the most commonly referenced delamination tests performed on a universal test machine is the climbing drum peel test. What makes this test unique compared to other types of peel and adhesion tests are the properties of the sample and the special fixture required to perform the test. The sample required for this type of test is typically a flexible material which is bonded to a stiffer material via an adhesive. The climbing drum peel fixture rotates and peels the flexible material from the stiffer material and a force measurement is recorded.
