Deformation Testing

Deformation Testing is a term that encompasses many testing applications in modern materials science. Specifically, it refers to the way a sample changes shape when a tensile or compressive load is applied either at room temperature or in an environmental chamber where temperature can be controlled. In other words, it is a measure of strain on a sample. There are different types of deformation such as Elastic Deformation, Stress and Strain, Plastic Deformation, Metal Fatigue, Compressive Failure and Fracture/Break.
